this is my most meaningful tattoo. my grandma passed away in 2011, and this is all for her. she loved elephants and roses. my grandma died of cancer. it started in her lungs and spread to her brain. we found out in november and she died in december. i think of her every day, and the way i chose to always remember her was to get a tattoo about her. cancer sucks, but everything happens for a reason.

the elephant represents her, happiness, strength, and luck. the red rose represents love, courage, and respect. lavender is the general cancer awareness color. also, when an elephant holds its trunk down, it’s a sign of protection.

This line is what really grabbed me in my creative writing class. A couple months later it was a shit rain day, everything wasn’t going “right” and Charles Bukowski’s poetry was the only thing really making sense lately. Yankee Tattoo in Burlington, Vermont has never done me wrong and I highly recommend Anthony. As for the placement, I wanted something others could enjoy sometimes, and me all the time.

This is my chest piece that I got last year. It is of a Tuskegee Airmen shooting down a German Luftwaffe plane. I grew up knowing one of the last Tuskegee Airmen who is now 90 years old. He is one of my heroes and I admire so much of what he has done and got this tattoo to honor what those men did back then.

This is the rose and ship wheel that was added to my compass rose, just this morning! So far I’m following a more traditional theme on my right arm, whereas my left arm are more original ideas. It symbolizes my belief that there’s always a direction to go in life, and from every new directions grows beauty and livelihood.

If you’re wondering, I’m obsessed with owls and I wanted a tattoo for every fucked up thing that’s happened in the past and every beautiful thing that has come out of it, for everything I learned because of it. This little guy was the perfect artistic representation of all the wisdom that has come out of me completely losing my mind. I’m stronger, smarter, and on the path to success, I couldn’t be more pleased.
